Civil Construction Projects
Fitzroy to Gladstone Pipeline
Description: This project comprises an approximately 117 kilometre pipeline, a water treatment plant, reservoirs and pumping stations connecting the Lower Fitzroy river to Gladstone Area Water Board’s existing water network at Yarwun. It will provide further water security for the Gladstone region in Queensland, and support for the emerging hydrogen industry in the area.

Walkerston Bypass
Description: The Walkerston Bypass will deliver a new 2-lane rural highway to connect Peak Downs Highway west of Walkerston to the Mackay Ring Road near Paget.
The Bypass will become the designated heavy vehicle route for B-double and other multi-combination vehicles, including A-double road trains, between the Bruce Highway and the Peak Downs Highway.

Tindal RAAF Base Redevelopment
Description: Currently, Essjay Contracting in conjunction with BMD is delivering works as part of the RAAF Base Tindal Redevelopment Stage 6 project. This project involves extending the existing runway, building a new air movements terminal, parking apron and extra fuel storage facilities.

Shoalwater Bay Military Training Area Upgrades
Description: This project involves constructing new and upgraded facilities and infrastructure at Shoalwater Bay military training area. This will support the training activities of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).

Peak Downs Highway – Safety Upgrades
Description: This project entails widening sections of the existing highway, upgrading intersections as well as addressing roadside hazards to improve the safety of this section of highway between Eton and Mackay. The highway is the principal freight corridor supplying the coal mines of northern Bowen basin. The route carries significant volumes of freight, including oversize and over-mass vehicles carrying large mining equipment, as well as local and commuter traffic.

Carmichael Mine Rail Network
Description: A 189km rail line connecting the Carmichael Mine to existing rail infrastructure at Goonyella and on to the North Queensland Export Terminals of Hay Point and Abbot Point.
Essjay Contracting supplied a full fleet of wet and dry hire machines and also ancillary equipment to this project.

Bruce Highway - Six Mile Creek to Gavial Creek Safety Upgrades
DESCRIPTION: This road works project involves over 12km of improvements to Queensland’s principal north-south Highway route, including road widening and overlay, and intersection upgrades. All works are being delivered under live traffic.

Bruce Highway – Haughton River Floodplain Upgrade
DESCRIPTION: This project involves the construction of a higher level bridge, road approaches, overpasses and the application of wide centre line treatments at the Haughton River on a new alignment.
Scope of works- Upgrading 13.5km of the Bruce Highway traversing the Haughton River floodplain;
Construction of an upgraded Haughton River bridge;
Wide centre line treatment works along the 13.5km section of highway;
Two new highway overpasses of the existing cane-tramway open-level crossings;

DESCRIPTION: Essjay Contracting supplied and managed several crews comprising of graders, rollers, semi tanker and body water carts, loaders, excavators and side tippers, working throughout the Central Highlands Regional Council region assisting in the completion of NDRRA works.

Princess Highway Berry to Bomaderry Upgrades
DESCRIPTION: This upgrade road works project, working with the Downer Seymour Whyte Joint Venture will see 10.5 kilometres of four-lane highway constructed between Mullers Lane, Berry and Cambewarra Road, Bomaderry, in addition to the building of temporary roads and carrying out road work for the safety of motorists and workers. Essjay Contracting is supplying wet hire of final trim graders and water carts to this project.

Mackay Ring Road Stage 1
DESCRIPTION: Stage 1 is an 11.3 km ring road route which will connect the Bruce Highway at the Stockroute Road roundabout in the south of Mackay, Queensland through to Bald Hill Road in the north. Benefits: Stage 1 will: - improve safety and road network connectivity - reduce travel time by avoiding 10 signalised intersections - increase freight efficiencies - remove heavy vehicle traffic from Nebo Road - introduce a new river crossing over the Pioneer River - have speed limits of 80km/h and 100km/h (compared to a 60km/h urban network) - pave the way for the first 2.6 km of the Walkerston Bypass.

Eton Range Peak Downs Highway Realignment Project
DESCRIPTION: The road construction project involves widening the Highway from 2 to 4 lanes, a partial realignment of the existing Range crossing, a split carriageway to separate traffic and reduction in grade. To widen part of the existing Range road, a reinforced earth embankment is being constructed which will be 780 metres long and 45 metres tall at its highest point.

Neerkol Creek Rock-Lining
DESCRIPTION: Lining the east and western banks under the reconstructed Neerkol Creek Bridge (the original being destroyed by Cyclone Marcia) in order to prevent future water damage to the road and rail network in the area.

Peak Downs Highway Timber Bridge Replacement Project
DESCRIPTION: This project involves the construction of 4 new concrete bridges and all associated road works (Pavements, Drainage, surfacing), to replace 4 timber bridges on the Peak Downs highway, west of Mackay. The bridges are located at Boundary Creek, Cut Creek, Lonely Creek and Fiery Creek. Subcontracting to Seymour Whyte Constructions and providing their entire fleet of plant, including final trim graders, final trim excavators, water trucks, truck and dogs, and various other items of plant.

Resources Projects
Aquila Mine Long Wall Project
Description: This project, jointly funded by both Anglo American and Mitsui Coal Holdings, entails the construction of a single long wall underground mine and supporting infrastructure. The operation will target two seams, the Aquila and Aquila Lower coal seams. The depth of the aquila seams from the surface varies from approximately 70 meters up to 280 meters with a nominal seam height ranging from 1.8 metres to 2.2 metres. The longwall will be supported by two miner development units with ROM coal transferred from the underground development and longwall mining units via a new under ground conveyor belt system to a new surface conveyor and onto an expanded ROM stockpile.

Adani Abbott Point Coal Terminal
DESCRIPTION: Abbot Point is the most northerly deepwater coal port of Australia, situated approximately 25 kilometres north-west of the township of Bowen, Queensland. Established in 1984, it consists of a rail in-loading facility, coal handling and stockpile areas, and a single trestle jetty and conveyor connected to a berth and shiploader, located 2.75 km off-shore. Coal reaches the port via the GAP railway line from the Bowen Basin Coalfields. The port is planned to provide export facilities for coal mined from the Galilee Basin. The terminal is being expanded with the addition of a second wharf and shiploader as well as an additional onshore stockyard and machines. Once completed it will be the largest coal port in the world.
